The producers of The Aviators, the new television series that has been creating a buzz in North American aviation, have officially released the first preview of the show on their website at www.TheAviators.TV. The preview features footage obtained at EAA’s AirVenture including the A380 as well as a segment on Icon Aircraft’s A5.

“We get emails every single day from members of the aviation community thanking us for putting The Aviators together,” said the show’s Executive Producer Anthony Nalli, “and that doesn’t count the flood of emails and calls we’ve received from people interested in telling their story or showcasing their products, services, or destinations.”

“The demand and anticipation for the show has been growing at an incredible pace,” said John Lovelace, long time aviation television producer and creator of The Aviators.

“Sponsors have also been extremely supportive which makes it easier for us to deliver to the public what they are constantly telling us they so obviously want” added Nalli. “The Aviators Magazine is also in the works and will launch as the show premieres.”

Additional previews for The Aviators will be posted on www.TheAviators.TV every month or so leading up to the premiere.
The crew of The Aviators has certainly had a busy summer! We are very pleased with the shooting progress made during the Cross Canada Century Flight and our visit to EAA’s AirVenture at Oshkosh. All in all we shot 10 segments for the show which gives us plenty of choices as we prepare the pilot episode over the next few months.

The Century Flight, the cross-Canada journey of over 100 aircraft to celebrate the country’s centennial of flight, was a huge success and provided content for at least 4 segments. With so much footage being shot for Century Flight documentary it’s quite likely that we’ll be able to extract even more great stories that can be aired on The Aviators.

With the hectic schedule of the Century Flight behind us there was no rest for the weary. With just a day in Toronto to make a few last minute arrangements it was off to Oshkosh, WI for the annual aviation pilgrimage.

We were on the grounds for a total of 4 days where we shot 6 incredible segments. We’d like to thank the EAA, the U.S. Air Force, Airbus, Icon Aircraft, Cirrus, Cessna, and Joe Balzer for their support and cooperation.

UPDATE: We had an opportunity to extend our initial shooting and would like to also thank Richard Cooper and Jeff Lewis for allowing us to capture incredible in flight footage in the Delfin L29 and MiG 15, the Tiger Boys for their look into the beloved Tiger Moth, and the legendary Julie Clark for a wonderfully energetic and enlightening interview.

Post-production of the pilot episode is now under way and we will be releasing snippets this fall at www.TheAviators.TV. The episode guide and shooting schedule are now in the works and will be ready over the course of the winter. Full production of the series will resume in the spring of 2010.

The brand new television series targeting the aviation community will get nationwide US satellite distribution to all 320 Public Broadcasting Stations when it premieres in 2010.

“The Aviators is a completely fresh concept and something that the aviation industry really needs right now” said Executive Producer Anthony Nalli. “We wanted to feature a broad spectrum of aviation related stories and have opted for a weekly magazine-style series that would allow for many more stories than a conventional host driven show.”

“The series, shot completely in high definition, will feature correspondents from within the aviation community to add credibility to the reporting” Nalli continued. “The Aviators television series in combination with its associated website and related print publication will form a complete multimedia resource profiling the people, the places, and the planes of the North American aviation industry.”

The series was created by veteran aviation television producer John Lovelace (creator of “Wings Over Canada” and Global TV’s “Driving Television”). Nalli and Lovelace have been developing the project since last year while working on the John Lovelace Cross Country Century Flight, a cross-country journey of 100 aircraft taking place in July 2009.

“There are literally hundreds of stories that have never been told and people just can’t get enough of TV featuring airplanes and pilots” said Lovelace, the producer of eight television series’ and 400 episodes airing across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia.

“I just thought if we could overhaul the TV product, put some new faces to it, and develop something that would work internationally it would be a sure fire winner” he added. “When we took the new fast-paced magazine concept to advertisers and broadcasters the response was excellent right out of the gate!”

The Aviators will be distributed to broadcasting stations across the United States by Albuquerque, New Mexico-based KNME Westlink which maintains a long standing relationship with Lovelace. "When we provided our initial treatment for The Aviators to KNME they immediately saw the potential of the high definition aviation series” he explained. “This is an amazing opportunity to get US national exposure for The Aviators.”

Pre-production of The Aviators began in Toronto and Vancouver in April and shooting continues throughout the summer of 2009. The show will premiere across North America in 2010.
