AOPA and EAA Partner with Highly Anticipated New Aviation TV Series

The Aviators, the new weekly magazine-style television series that premieres this September, has announced that it has partnered with North America’s two largest general aviation organizations, AOPA and EAA.  EAA will be supporting The Aviators at AirVenture 2010 in Oshkosh, WI by hosting a media launch of the show on Wednesday, July 28th at 3:00 pm (local) followed later in the week by the World Premiere of The Aviators: Episode One. 
The first public showing of The Aviators: Episode One will now be held at the famous Theatre in the Woods on Friday, July 30th (followed by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band).  An ENCORE of the premiere will again be shown in the Theatre in the Woods on Saturday, July 31st (followed by Grammy winners "Asleep at the Wheel")  Crews and personalities from The Aviators will be at AirVenture shooting for season two while also spending time greeting fans at their spectacular display in Aeroshell Square’s hangar “C”. AOPA will likewise be hosting events at AOPA Aviation Summit 2010 in Long Beach, CA this November.

The Aviators was a hit at the PBS Annual Meeting held last May in Austin, TX and is expected to air on many of the 356 Public Television Stations across the United States starting this fall.

“We’re thrilled by the number of stations across the country eager to air the show” said Executive Producer Anthony Nalli. “There’s obviously a demand for intelligent, entertaining aviation television and stations and viewers are excited that it’s finally here.”

The Aviators also premieres across Canada on the Global Television Network on Saturday, September 11th with a preview in prime time Wednesday, September 8th on CHEK-TV. For local broadcast information viewers are encouraged to contact their local Public Television Station.

The Aviators and the 170,000 member strong Experimental Aircraft Association (better known as "EAA") have formed an alliance that will bring the show's cast and crew to AirVenture 2010 to officially launch the new series.  The first public showing of The Aviators: Episode One will now be held at the famous Theatre in the Woods on Friday, July 30th (followed by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Our June 1st "We Want The Aviators" campaign was an overwhelming success. Your many, many messages were heard loud and clear by Public Television Stations across the country and many of them have already slotted in The Aviators for airing this September.  Other stations are planning to start running the series a little later in the year. PBS Trip, Broadcast Times Announced, June's Winner

PBS Trip

The Aviators have just returned from a very successful trip to Austin, TX for the PBS Annual Meeting. Hundreds and hundreds of Station Managers and Program Directors from across the country were introduced to The Aviators for the first time in-person at our spectacular display.

However, in many cases this wasn't the first time they'd heard of the show. In fact, some have already begun arranging a time slot for it. One thing's certain though, the show was a HUGE hit with the station executives and the level of interest across the country was even higher than we could ever have imagined!

Air Times Announced

CHEK-TV has found a PRIME TIME slot for The Aviators, not once but TWICE A WEEK! The Aviators will air on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm starting on September 8th. Victoria, BC's CHEK-TV can be seen across Canada on Bell TV.

The Global Television Network is finding a time slot for The Aviators on Saturday mornings from coast-to-coast, possibly 11:30 am. Stay tuned for more details soon.

News from our distributor just back from a successful trip to Cannes, France for the MIPTV television festival is that interest in The Aviators has been shown by broadcasters in Europe and Asia. Discussions are under way with a broadcaster in France and back at home with additional television channels in both the United States and Canada.

Sun ‘N Fun

Our recent promotional visit to Sun 'N Fun in Lakeland, FL was a huge success with the creation of thousands and thousands of new and eager Aviators fans. The Aviators would like to thank the organizers of Sun ‘N Fun as well as the many people we spoke to including Patty Wagstaff and Miracle on the Hudson hero Jeff Skiles.

Later this month The Aviators will be travelling to Austin, TX to promote the series to PBS station managers and program directors from all 356 stations at the PBS General Meeting. The Aviators will be distributed to all 356 affiliates this September and it is expected that many of them will begin airing the series right away while many others will find a time slot for the series over the following few months.

Our goal for Austin is to ensure that all station managers and program directors know what The Aviators is about, know when it will be available to them, and to let them know that our army of fans wants them to run the series sooner than later in their respective markets.

The show has already been premiered to a PBS audience at the PBS Technical Conference last month in Las Vegas, NV where the show was reported to be "the hit of the conference" so we already have a very good head start!

The producers of The Aviators are working on several other exciting initiatives. The Aviators may be giving you and exclusive behind the scenes look at the shooting of a major aviation-based Hollywood movie production. We’re also working with the AOPA on an interesting new project that members will learn more about over the next few months. And we’ve begun discussions that might see The Aviators on a brand new television network in the not so distant future.

Broadcast and Production Update

Broadcasters

The Aviators is proud and excited to announce that our Canadian broadcasters will be the Global Television Network who will be airing the series across their entire network coast to coast, and Victoria, BC’s CHEK-TV who will be airing the show in Western Canada (also viewable across the country on most cable and satellite carriers).

Our distributor, Canamedia, continues in their efforts to add to our list of broadcasters both domestically and internationally. To that end Canamedia will be presenting The Aviators at the MIPTV festival in Cannes, France this spring.

Of course plans for distribution to all 356 Public Broadcasting Stations across the United States remain solidly in place with the series being previewed at the PBS Technology Conference in Las Vegas, NV in April and showcased at the PBS Annual Meeting in Austin, TX in May.

We will continue to provide broadcaster updates as we draw closer and closer to the premiere of The Aviators.
