What is The Aviators?


The Aviators is a weekly TV series featuring interesting people, the latest aircraft, the coolest technology and the best fly-in destinations.


We will take you behind the scenes to show you how airline pilots train, how planes are built, and how ATC works. We will profile aviation businesses and showcase aviation products. We will provide safety tips for private and recreational pilots and career tips for professional pilots.


The Aviators is all-things-aviation: “For everyone who has ever gazed skywards.”


Where can I watch The Aviators on TV?


The Aviators is a broadcast television series with an estimated weekly US audience of over 9.3 million in almost 3.6 million TV households as reported by Nielsen. In the United States, The Aviators can be seen on over 80% of PBS stations across the country (numbers equalling PBS’ best network programs). The series also airs in Canada six times a week on Travel and Escape.


The Aviators has attracted significant international interest and can be seen throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa on Discovery Channel as well as on broadcasters in several other countries.


How is the show doing?


The first season of The Aviators has been a phenomenal success. Season one episodes have been broadcast more than a whopping 11,000 times to an audience of over 9 million viewers in hundreds of markets across the United States. The Aviators is also an incredible international hit already airing on four continents.


Season two is on pace to outdo season one and brings with it an even broader and more exciting range of topics including a visit to MCAS Miramar (formerly known as Top Gun), a day in the life of an air show, an exclusive visit with the LAPD’s aerial unit, and lots and lots of flying!


What if I can’t find The Aviators on TV where I live?


Emails to your local public television station have so far proven to be very effective in influencing station program directors to air The Aviators. If your station isn’t airing the show yet click here to let them know YOU WANT THE AVIATORS! But with over 80% coverage on PBS you might simply have missed airings in your area. Online program schedules have proven to be notorious inaccurate with respect to independent productions such as ours. Contacting your local station directly [click here] is the best way to get the most accurate programming information if you can’t easily find the show in your local listings.


In the meantime, you can always watch full episodes online in our Members Area or even purchase the DVD set of each complete season. When will there be a Season THREE?


After incredibly successful seasons one and two we’re proud to announce that work has begun on season three with plans to premiere across North America in September of 2012.
