Season 2 World Premiere a Huge Success
3,000 in Attendance
Tuesday, July 23rd was a beautiful night at AirVenture 2011 in Oshkosh, WI as the much anticipated second season of The Aviators was premiered at EAA’s Theater in the Woods. 3,000 were on hand to watch episode one from season two which introduced a new look, new music, new graphics, and even a new host, country music star George Canyon. The episode also re-introduced existing hosts Kurtis, Sara, and Anthony giving viewers a little more of their individual backgrounds.
The episode, entitled “Aviation 101”
was designed to provide an over-
view of some of the basic concepts
of aviation. Anthony explained to the
crowd that the episode was “intended
to help make aviation seem more
accessible and possible for the many,
many viewers out there who have been
dreaming of flight but haven’t taken any
steps toward realizing that dream.”
He continued to explain that during
season one emails from a number
of viewers confirm that the show has
inspired many to start taking flying
lessons. “We’re humbled by the fact
that the show is actually making pilots
and honored that we can play at least
a small part in helping to bring new
people into this wonderful and welcom-
ing community.” In response, the crowd
broke into a round of applause.
Several prizes were awarded during the premiere event including round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines (won by Nate Margolis of San Diego, CA) and a luxury watch by Hamilton Watches (won by Doyle Blanton of Appleton, WI).
Season 2 of The Aviators is set to premiere on PBS starting September 12th, 2011 as well as on iTunes. DVDs of Season 2 will be released later in September and are available for pre-order now.
